This month is to promote understanding, education, enlightenment, appreciation and enrichment through the identification, gathering, preservation and dissemination of the history and culture of Filipino Americans in the United States.
There are currently more than 30 Filipino American chapters nationwide in addition to a number of conferences focusing awareness on this unique culture. October was chosen to mark the anniversary of the arrival of the first Filipino in America, October 18, 1587.
